There are over 200 manufacturers today who are making fiberglass copies of the infamous legend...even Shelby American has a fiberglass copy. In the beginning, around 1962...Carroll Shelby & the Ford Motor Company cut a deal w/AC Cars from the UK to produce an alloy bodied Bristol w/a 289 small block stuffed inside it's tiny engine bay...voila ! The Shelby Cobra was born ! In 1980, the original factory started producing this Mark IV series. The bodies, as on the original series, were made from hand formed Aluminum. The interiors were made from the best Connely Leathers & Wilton Wool Carpeting. The Mark IV's were all wide bodied versions that normally had a 427, but these were made in the 80's thru the early 90's & had Ford 302 motors tuned to perform as well as anything could in the 80's. This example, serial # AK 1385 is a very late US Spec'd Mark IV that was special ordered in Jaguar Racing Green w/matching full Green leather w/many factory options.
